See my Team-in-Training page

To be able to follow along on my fundraising and training progress go to my team-in-training page at:

http://www.teamintraining.org/participant/martin-193566

There's a visitor's log on that site, so be sure to let me know you were there. Also, you can make donations online if you wish. I'm still getting all my stuff together but I'm planning to ask 200 people to donate $10 each. Feel free to donate more or less. Whatever you give, will help get me to my goal.

Till next time...

Now that's a little better...

Today's run was better than Monday's. I started off a little slower and felt pretty good at the finish.

I'm starting to kind of catch the fever again. The first team run is on the lakefront this Saturday.

I also tried out a new pair of shoes. I had always been wanting to have a second brand to run with and last night while at Naperville Running Co. I picked up a pair of Asics. The feel of the shoe is very different. It actually fits better around my foot. It seemed like a lighter shoe but the salesperson told me there isn't much difference in weight between it and the Saucony. It's hard to believe that it gives the same support, the Saucony seems to be a more hearty shoe. For a short it felt fine, but I know that up to about 10 miles I can wear just about any shoe and after that I have to have the 'right' shoe. I'll keep working it out and try it on one of the longer runs to see how it (and in turn my legs) holds up.

Later...

Ready or Not, Here I Go...

Well, it started today. This morning I went out for a twenty minute run. It's the first run of the Fall Marathon season with Team in Training. So many more mornings to go, so many workouts. I have had trouble getting motivated to work out since the end of the 2002 Chicago marathon. This year, again, I hope to keep running after the marathon is over.

The alarm went off at 6a and I didn't get out of the house until 7. I almost talked myself into going to work first and trying to run at Noon. After all, I figured, it's only a 20 minute run I can do that at the drop of a hat. Then I decided it would be better to start off doing the run first and later on if I think I can play with the time I'll try it.

It wasn't a bad run. It was pretty hot out. I didn't eat or drink anything before I went out. I better plan to eat something first next time. Better stock up on the power bars too.

Still no real excitement, just too much other stuff going on. Perhaps after our first group run on Saturday that will kick things up a notch.

Stay tuned...
